  10. The DataType reads bitmap images stored in the PNG (Portable Network
  11. Graphics) format.
  12. The DataType supports all types of PNG-encoded images. Grayscale images
  13. are converted to palette-based images. This version of the DataType
  14. supports 24-bit DataType tag extensions, and can pass true color data to
  15. supporting applications (e.g. Cybergraphics software). In a palette-based
  16. environment, true color (up to 48-bit) images are dithered using a fast
  17. Floyd-Steinberg method.
  18. This DataType also reads the Author, Copyright and Comment fields
  19. (DTA_ObjAuthor, DTA_ObjCopyright and DTA_ObjAnnotation DataType
  20. attributes).
  21. Two versions of the DataType are included here: 68000 and 68020+.
  22. Also included, an example of DataType-based image viewer (ViewDT), with
  23. source code.
